November 14, 2008-
Oh what a beautiful day!! I just cannot sit still-I wanna go outside-I wanna go outside!!pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
The last few days have been very windy and rainy-not cold-just windy!!! We had a rainbow over the river on Wednesday-there were even kite boarders floating right through it and they turned colors!!!
Carol and I were taking our usual walk last Sunday morning, about 7:00 and as we went behind the hotel and approached the fence to look over at the river (like we always do) Carol put her finger to her lips and I knew that meant for me to not bark! She cocked her ear to the sky and then I heard it too-a shrill, silence piercing call from below-unknown to me, but obviously familiar to her. She got real excited and ran to the fence and started thanking Jesus!! She fixed her eyes on three Bald Eagles, air dancing in harmony above the grand river below. I thought, "oh this is good, but can we just get on to my pooping place around the corner?" It seemed like eternity, but finally we were on our way once again. Of course, if I had known that they were going to leave me alone a hour later while they went to church, I would of lingered on the trail awhile longer. Carol arranged my "nancy blanket" on the bed, just right, so the sun would keep me warm until they returned.
Seems as though they went to a different church-the United Church of Christ-and they were both singing 'Morning Has Broken" all day (they sang it during service that morning). Carol was invited to the Friendship Guild today and she invited Jenny to go with her (she told me she was wondering what kind of refreshments they were going to have!!! )
It has been great having Barney home lately, but soon he will be off to work and she and I will have our alone time once again.
Nathan and Jenny came over on Monday and I get so excited when I see them come through the door-I can actually tell it is them walking up the stairs!! and I KNOW their knock on the door!!! I am "PSYCHIC DOG"!!!!!
Since today is Friday AND it isn't windy, we will go walking on the beach trail after Carol returns from the church. I have mixed feelings about the beach-I love smelling all the activity that has gone on before me but when the black Labs go running into the river, chasing the bright balls thrown by their owners, do I wish a was a bigger gorge dog! They all smell pretty bad, but that is a small price to pay when I see the big swim and even bigger wet shake they get to make-oh, the woe of a small poodlewa!! Of course they have to get in the back of a cold metal truck and I get to sit on a soft, clean pillow and drink cool spring water from a stainless dish, not to mention a fresh barley biscuit!!!! I DO have it made-did I mention the warm, waterproof coat I just got??
Still getting used to that!!!
Well, the sun is higher now and not a cloud in the sky (seems as though Portland and Seattle get most of the bad rain and the mountains known as the Cascades break up a lot of the storms that move eastward). The colorful leaves have mostly fallen from the trees (Carol was glad she took her camera along for our morning walk the other day) and the Christmas lights and wreaths have already gone up on the hotel next door. I overheard Carol telling Connie that the Thanksgiving dinner at the hotel was $65.00 per person and then she said "you betch ya, we will be eatin' here at home with our kids", AND our poodlewa-Yum!! I DO love bird!!!
Well, that darn harness is coming at me!!! (at least its not the raincoat) so until next time-
I love ya, God bless ya !
