August 29, 2008-
they went to "get some chicken"!!! They always say that whenever they go out without me! Like they don't know that I know how much chicken I eat!! No way I eat as much as they say I do-why don't they just tell the truth! And the truth is that we are gonna be OUTTA here real soon.
I remember the last time-it begins with the boxes then the plastic boxes-stuff starts disappearing, then people I haven't seen in awhile, start coming over and they leave with their arms full. Carol always smiles and says she "feels lighter all ready". Then-one day the trucks arrive and I get ignored for what seems to be a long time -then all of a sudden-one night we are sleeping somewhere strange and the night noises are alot different. The flurry of activity winds down and we are in the car driving FOREVER and the ground is foreign at every stop, always the ever-present biting monsters, pouncing on my feet with fangs drawn!! Luckily, Carol soaks my paws in warm soda water every night and sprays them with benadryl.
This newest trip is in it's 3rd day. When we left, the whole area seemed to be caught up in a "fight or flight" mode and as we approached Oklahoma City, our swift pace became a crawl as many people from south of Dallas drove as far as they could to avoid a large storm. We finally arrived at the motel in Ponca City and sleep came quickly. (I don't know what they did-I got fed-savored a biscuit-fluffed up my quilt-then LIGHTS OUT).
The last two days were kind of foggy as I slept most the time-I just can't resist that benadryl!
What I do know is that the wind was howling and Barney had such a grip on the wheel that I couldn't get an ear scratch for anything!!! Carol always looks out the side window on those days!
We are near Mount Rushmore tonight-something about "large rocks with faces on them-sounds like Barney's cup of tea!!! They finally were able to get this laptop to work-Motel 8"s free high speed, has been a little inconsistant-supposed to dip below freezing tonight-Great! how I love to pee on frosted grass and watch it steam up!!
Well, here comes Carol with my freshly laundried quilt-think I'll say "Good Day" and call it Sunday!! We are headed for Montana -by way of Wyoming tomorrow!!
